VICE PRESIDENT NETWORK SERVICES
Joe is responsible for Edge's public network services and state, federal, and international regulatory matters. Joe is one of the industry's leading experts in next-generation public voice network solutions and the associated regulatory treatments.
Joe has 17 years of network operations and regulatory experience. Prior to Edge, Joe served as Vice President of Network and Facilities at Covista Communications. Joe also served as Vice President of Network and Facilities at ClearEnd LLC and in operational management at the IXC TotalTel. Joe has managed the build out of nationwide networks, managed numerous SIP Platforms and created least cost routing tools. Joe has also run toll free and carrier wholesale organizations in the past. Joe served as Product Manager of TRA for iconectiv, overseeing and aiding industry and federal forums in the migration to an all-IP telephony network. At Spectrotel Inc., Joe was Product Manager responsible for regulatory filing during a nationwide expansion. Joe has worked with various ATIS groups and participated in a contribution for nationwide number portability that was requested by the NANC.
Joe is a member of the LNPA Working group that develops enhancements to the National Numbering Assignments and delivers these solutions to the FCC.
VICE PRESIDENT FINANCE AND ADMINISTRIATION
Karen brings over 28 years of finance and accounting experience in the telecommunications and communications industries. Prior to joining Edge, Karen was Vice President and Controller, Broadcast Division at Harris Corporation, a leading communications company for the government and media sectors. Karen was responsible for financial reporting and results, strategy and key leader in sales operations. Karen was part of the executive team that led the eventual divestiture of the division to private equity.
Karen also served as Vice President Finance at Nortel Networks, Enterprise Division leading financial reporting and results, strategy and divestiture of the division. Prior to this role, Karen was Vice President Finance for the Nortel Networks North American Sales and Marketing Division, supporting the President in strategy, sales and sales operations.
Karen was also Assistant Controller at Nortel Networks Corporate Headquarters located in Brampton, Ontario. Karen oversaw quarterly and annual SEC filings, quarterly and annual Corporate reporting, internal controls as well as staffing technical accounting teams.
Karen has broad experience in financial planning and accounting, M&A, Corporate Reporting and Strategy. At Edge, Karen is responsible for finance, accounting, legal and contract administration. Karen has her CPA and MBA.
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
With a 31-year telecom career spanning startup, enterprise, corporate, and turnaround endeavors in North America and Europe, Michael has held founding or leadership roles in a number of advanced communications companies.
Previous to Edge, Michael was a principal at Lexicom LLC, a provider of strategic planning, network design/build, operations management, and federal/state regulatory consulting services to public and private telecommunications companies in North America and Europe.
As co-founder and president of Digital Sail LLC, Michael designed, built and operated one of the first 4G service providers. Digital Sail was the first company to successfully deliver commercial VoIP service over wireless broadband, based upon new technologies and unique network architectures.
Michael was a member of the founding executive management team of Prism Communications, a pioneering competitive local exchange carrier based in New York City. He also directed the Infrastructure Practice at Visual Radio LLC, a NYC-based venture developer which, with its institutional banking, venture capital, and technology vendor partners, incubated 16 advanced communications companies.
In 13 years at Nortel Networks, Michael held positions in operations, business development, and finance. He led an enterprise consulting organization that was formed to manage troubled divisions of Nortel's carrier customers such as ATT, Verizon, and Sprint to profitability.
CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER
Bill Hamel is an Internet pioneer and technology visionary with over 30 years of experience in the data, telephony and security sectors. Bill is an expert in large-scale, high availability data and voice networks and network security. He has evaluated and redesigned large scale national and international networks to improve high availability and security for many corporations and service providers including TBI, CCIS, and General Telecom. He has liaised with law enforcement agencies to provide digital forensics to aid in criminal apprehension.
As an expert network engineer and software developer, Bill has a proven track record of being a technically accomplished executive with the in-the-trenches hands on experience to provide him with the unique perspective to assemble and mentor teams with the right skill sets, depth of knowledge, and culture to meet or exceed the goals set at the executive and board levels.
He is the co-founder of CoreDial LLC., a leading SaaS platform provider for the channel.
CHIEF HOSPITALITY OFFICER
Heide brings over 25 years of experience within both the hospitality and emerging technology fields.
Heide began her career working with the new hotel development team at Morgans Hotel Group in New York City. Heide took her business development and marketing skills to become Executive Vice President of Business Development at Visual Radio, an internet-based incubator company headquartered in New York. In August, 2002, along with two Ian Schrager alumni, she opened a successful boutique hotel in the Florida Keys. Her areas of expertise include all aspects of hotel management, emerging technology development and start-up design, development and implementation.
Heide works closely with hospitality customers on a daily basis in the pursuit of new approaches for solving the significant challenges hotels face building, securing and managing their networks.
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
Mark brings significant experience in strategy, planning, and deployment of large scale deploymentsboth domestic and international. He has served in leadership roles with companies ranging from early-stage startups to large corporate environments over a career span of 30 years.
Previous to Edge, Mark was the Managing Partner for Widelity de Brazil, a telecom services company in Sao Paulo providing strategic planning, project management, and logistics management. Mark served as NII Holdings Project Director on their national 3G deployment for Nextel de Brazil.
Mark has co-founded several companies to include Innerloc and Diamondback International. At Innerloc, Mark developed and patented a GPS tracking and cargo security system. As the co-founder and COO of Diamondback International, Mark developed a startup into a $25M telecom services company ranked #5 in the Dallas 100 [top 100 privately-held firms in north Texas].
Mark made his entry into telecom with a 10 year career at MCI where he started, developed, and managed their Central Office Engineering organization, and also restructured and managed the National Construction organization. Mark subsequently served in similar roles in developing national level programs such as a fiber-to-cell site program for Comcast, a deployment program for Fibertower, and a turnkey deployment program for Prism Communications.
